The app won't connect to the energyGuard Hub
Step 1: Subscribe to 'Savings as a Service'
[Skip if you already subscribed]
Due to SEAI discontinuing their support for the Hub Controls Ltd, the app functionality, automated energy savings, and continued warranty are now only supported by a Saving as a service subscription model.
Tip: After each step please try and reconnect to wifi by going to MENU > WIFI
Step 2: Check other devices
Please verify if other devices, such as your computer, can access the internet when connected to your home Wifi network
NOTE: Please be aware that your smartphone could be using your mobile data and already have an internet connection.
Step 3: Check if your Wifi network is 5 GHz
The energyGuard Hub can only connect to a 2.4 GHz network. The main difference between the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless bands lies in their speed and range capabilities. In simple terms, the 2.4 GHz band can reach a greater distance, providing a stronger signal further away from the router. On the other hand, the 5 GHz band offers significantly higher speeds but at a shorter range from the router. If you need assistance with splitting your Wifi bands, you can refer to the guide here or contact your Internet provider.
Step 4: Restart your router
- Unplug your router or modem from its power outlet (don’t just turn it off)
- Wait 15-20 seconds, then plug it back in
- Allow the device a minute or two to turn back on
Step 5: Reset the Wifi Module
- Tap at least 7 times at 10 o’clock on the background circle
- Select Wi-fi Module
- Select Reboot Module
Step 6: Forget Network and reboot
- On the energyGuard Hub, go to Menu → Wifi and select Forget network
- Reboot the device: Menu → Device Info → Reboot
- Select Menu → Wi-fi and connect to the network
NOTE: If you don’t have Forget network button, skip that step
